Dee graduated with a BSc Oral Health Sciences Honours with Distinction Degree at Manchester University. She has gone on to further training in many disciplines within dentistry, including teeth whitening, radiography and dental implant management.
Dee is currently undertaking a post-graduate diploma in restorative dentistry, which is a significant commitment in addition to her already hectic schedule! Dee is passionate about keeping up-to-date with modern ideas and techniques in practice, and so this ensures the care she is providing is in line with the latest developments.
Alongside working in dental practice, Dee has been teaching and mentoring students at the University of Manchester since 2008. As a dedicated educator, Dee has also completed multiple teaching qualifications, including the City & Guilds Level 4 PTTLS and CTTLS Certificate. More recently in 2019, Dee also completed a post-graduate Certificate in Higher Education. She is extremely keen on teaching students to think independently and has carried this philosophy in to Beaumont Dental where she continuously helps with team training and development.
Dee enjoys all aspects of working in dental practice, particularly copying the intricacies of natural teeth when placing tooth-coloured (composite) restorations.
Dee loves working at Beaumont Dental as the values of the practice align with her own values as a clinician. Providing quality patient care is at the forefront. We have regular clinician meetings to help us to improve treatment quality. Every team member is valued and post graduate learning is encouraged and supported to ensure we are keeping our knowledge and skills up to date delivering the best to our patients.
If you were not a dentist/therapist/hygienist, what would you be and why?
I really enjoy being a mother to my two boys who are now aged 13 and 14. When they were younger, I loved all the messy play and creative learning. It would make me so happy seeing how much fun they were having whilst learning. I also currently teach the Dental Students at Manchester University on a Friday and I find it so rewarding. If I was not a Dental Therapist, I would be an Early Years School Teacher.
What are your hobbies?
I have many hobbies however my favourite includes any physical activities involving problem solving such as escape rooms, The Crystal maze, The Cube Manchester etc. Other favourites are hiking, indoor rock climbing, badminton, and the theatre.
